Amber "Goldie NotNice' White is a visual artist with a BFA from Sam Houston State University, known for their dynamic approach to art and their role as the former Creative Director at Junction2800, a community center in Southwest Atlanta.
Working primarily in oil, acrylic, pastels, markers, and aerosols, Goldie’s work is recognized for its bold use of color and overlapping imagery. A signature element of their practice is the safety pin, symbolizing Connectivity. Through her innovative use of the “Glitched" application, they explore the intersection of technology and creativity, pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms.
Over the course of two decades, Goldie’s artistic style has evolved, culminating in their exploration of Glitched Afro-futurism. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with outer space and the concept of the future, their work reimagines a world where people of color not only exist but thrive in the future. Amber believes the history has already given us evidence of the past, and they are now focused on creating the historical evidence of our future.

My earliest memory as a creative would be when I was 4 years old as a ballerina. However, as I got older, the love for self expression faded to the background. Family dynamic and frequent uprooting just pushed it out of focus. It wouldn’t be until my first fight in 7th grade, landing me in Ms. Flowers’ detention, where I’d fall back in love with art. I redrew a painting Ms. Flowers had hanging over her desk and brought it home to show my mom. In disbelief she asked, “You did that?”, and from there, she and I both knew I had tapped into something special.
The next summer in I had the opportunity to attend the SCAD summer seminars Downtown for Fashion Design and Painting. Then again, the following summer in Savannah, for Drawing and Painting and Architectural Design. That was the second most affirming moment in my creative life where I knew, being an artist was exactly who I was supposed to be.
I use many different mediums, such as skin, ink, fabric, film, acrylic, aerosol, oil, chalk, pastels, glitter, charcoal, list goes on! I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style, energy.

Throughout my works you can find the safety-pin, which plays as a metaphor for connectivity (def. the state or extent of being connected or interconnected). I’ve micro-branded the safety pin into my apparel, my art, and even my tattoos! I want Goldie and Safety Pins to be synonymous like Jean Michel Basquiat and The Crown or Andy Warhol and The Campbells Soup Can!

My grandmother used to take me to the Planetarium as a kid, but It would still take me a while to realize I was one of those stars I used to gaze upon in the galaxy.
As I've matured, Spirituality has become a large source of my inspiration. Not only my connection to the Universe but it's connection to me. How lunar cycles and times of the year contribute to my mood. Coming to understand alignment, and strengthening my discernment, I now know I'm here to assist in shifting the vibration of the collective.
